The aim of this study was to evaluate if these molecules are up-regulated in patients with cancer and change during chemotherapy. Elderly patients with colon cancer scheduled to elective surgical resection should not be considered at increased risk of intra- or short-term postoperative complications with respect to younger patients.
Levels of soluble CD97 proteins were significantly elevated in all three cancer types compared to healthy controls. Patients with colorectal cancer and those with high CD97 levels had a significantly worse prognosis. This study showed a marked elevation of soluble CD97 expression in patients with certain cancer types and demonstrated definite changes in CD protein expression during chemotherapy in one patient with metastatic breast cancer.
However, they require careful individual preoperative evaluation because they are usually polypharmacy users and have a higher ASA score. Computed tomography (CT) was performed every three months of therapy. However, its ability to predict response to chemotherapy is uncertain. The Ki-67 index has a prognostic impact on DFS in patients with hormone receptor-positive and HER2neu-negative tumors.
The Ki-67 index is chiefly important for distinguishing between luminal A and luminal B human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2neu)-negative breast cancer subtypes. Patients treated for primary breast cancer at the University Hospital of Cologne were identified. Eight months later, she remains in remission without IUD-related complications. Immunohistochemistry for Ki-67 detection was performed according to standard protocols. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were calculated and compared using the log-rank test.
The strict cut-off value was not suitable for distinguishing between high- and low-risk patients and their response to adjuvant chemotherapy. Pancreas adenocarcinoma is the sixth cause of cancer-related death worldwide with an increasing mortality in the Western countries. Recently, the association between nab-paclitaxel (nab-P) and gemcitabine (GEM) has significantly improved progression-free and overall survival.
Patients affected by metastatic pancreas adenocarcinoma were treated at the Department of Abdominal Oncology of the National Cancer Institute of Naples from July 2015 to July 2016 with nab-P at 125 mg per square meter of body-surface area followed by GEM at 1,000 mg per square meter on days 1, 8 and 15 every 4 weeks.
Toxicity was graded with National Cancer Institute-Common Toxicity Criteria (NCI-CTC) v4.0. Objective responses were evaluated with Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST). The diagnostic rate of S-p53Ab was better than that of CA19-9 and CEA in patients with stage I GC. She elected to retain her existing levonorgestrel-containing IUD during chemotherapy and SCT.
We present an experience with nab-P and GEM association in a series with poor PS and highly metastatic disease relatively to a previous randomized study. A 23-year-old nulligravid female was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML, positive for FLT3-ITD, DNMT3A and RUNX1, with normal cytogenetics).
The schedule is feasible, with nab-P at 100 mg per square meter achieving a good disease control rate, as well as a clinical benefit. Combined detection of S-p53Ab and CEA may improve the diagnostic sensitivity and may permit more accurate stratification of GC patients.
The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the clinical relevance of serum p53 antibody (S-p53Ab) as a biomarker and to investigate whether its diagnostic value could be improved when combined with other biomarkers of gastric cancer (GC).
During treatment of hematologic malignancies in premenopausal women, both menstrual suppression and contraception are crucial. During and following treatment, she remained amenorrheic without infection, despite severe neutropenia and thrombocytopenia.
Continuation of hormonal intrauterine devices (IUDs) - widely used and highly effective contraceptives that also decrease menstrual flow - is controversial during hematopoietic stem cell transplants (SCTs) due to infectious and vaginal bleeding concerns.
